The Star legend: a convoy of vintage trucks in Gniezno

When a convoy of vintage Star trucks drove through Gniezno, our vehicle was among them. Taking part in the parade was the red Star in Smuszkiewicz colours, a restored legend of Polish motoring with which we feel a special bond.

Our Star, a tribute to our roots

For the Smuszkiewicz family, trucks are both a business and a passion that began decades ago. Our story started with a single vehicle, and today we import modern tractor units for hauliers from all over Europe. The vintage Star in company colours is a symbol of that road, from the first vehicle to a professional fleet.

Legenda STARa, an anniversary rally

The convoy was part of the 10th anniversary rally of vintage vehicles "Legenda STARa", organised by Starachowice County. Enthusiasts from the "Nocna Jazda bez celu" initiative and the Museum of Technical Heritage in Gniezno were also involved in the organisation, and the Mayor of Gniezno took honorary patronage. For decades the Star was synonymous with the Polish truck, hence the great interest in the rally.

A meeting with history on Sobieskiego Street

On Wednesday 21 August, between 16:00 and 19:00, in the car park on Sobieskiego Street in Gniezno, residents could take a close look at the vintage trucks, including our Star, talk to the owners and listen to stories about motoring of the past. From Gniezno the convoy moved on to Łódź and then to Starachowice, where the rally's finale took place.

Star, an icon of Polish motoring

For decades, Stars from Starachowice were the backbone of Polish transport. They carried goods and served in the army, the fire service and on farms. For many drivers they were the first truck behind whose wheel they spent hundreds of hours. That is why rallies like "Legenda STARa" are a living history lesson and a chance for younger generations to see the beginnings of the industry.
