The Smuszkiewicz Kenworth at the opening of the Rogoźno bypass

The new Rogoźno bypass has opened to traffic, and one of the first vehicles on the route was an American Kenworth from our fleet. A report, the investment figures and what it means for transport.

The Smuszkiewicz Kenworth at the opening of the Rogoźno bypass

Wielkopolska has gained another important road investment. The Rogoźno bypass has been officially opened and is now available to drivers. One of the first vehicles to symbolically drive the new route was our American Kenworth, the recognisable calling card of the Smuszkiewicz fleet.

The Kenworth that opened the road

The long hood and chrome drew attention from the very first metres of the bypass. American tractors are a rarity in Poland, so the Kenworth's presence at the opening sparked the interest of residents and drivers. For us, the drive was a tribute to the passion for heavy vehicles and to the daily work of hauliers, for whom we import and prepare equipment ready for the road.

Route and parameters of the new road

The new road is about 7 km long. It starts at a roundabout on provincial road 241 between Rogoźno and Marlewo, and ends at the roundabout connecting national road 11 with the county road in Gościejewo. The route takes transit traffic out of the town centre and improves north-south travel, one of the more important directions in this part of Wielkopolska.

Bridges, a viaduct and engineering structures

The investment included, among others:

  • a new bridge over the Wełna river,
  • a railway viaduct over the Poznań to Piła line,
  • culverts over smaller watercourses,
  • new roundabouts at both ends of the bypass.

Cost and financing

The investment was worth around PLN 150 million. Most of the cost was covered by the budget of the Wielkopolska province, with the remainder contributed by the Government Road Development Fund. The works were carried out by PORR. Residents and drivers had waited nearly a decade for the bypass.

What it means for transport and hauliers

The bypass shortens and smooths the passage of heavy transport, reduces congestion in the centre of Rogoźno and improves safety for drivers and residents. For transport companies it means saving time and fuel on routes through Wielkopolska, and fewer stops also mean slower vehicle wear.

DK11 and S5 as a key transport axis of Wielkopolska

Rogoźno lies on national road 11, which connects Silesia with Pomerania, and near the S5 expressway. It is one of the key freight corridors in western Poland. Every improvement on this stretch translates into smoother goods transport across hundreds of kilometres of routes that our customers use as well.

Less noise and congestion in the centre

Taking heavy traffic out of the centre of Rogoźno improves residents' comfort and safety: it reduces noise, exhaust fumes and vibrations near buildings, and shortens response times for emergency services. A well-designed bypass serves the transport industry and the local community at the same time.

Modern transport needs modern roads

Importing and preparing tractor units and semi-trailers, we know well how much infrastructure matters to hauliers. Efficient roads mean shorter delivery times, lower operating costs and safer work for drivers. That is why we treat every investment like this as good news for the whole industry.
